Berkshire Tennis

Berkshire Tennis is the governing body for tennis in Berkshire responsible for the administration and development of tennis throughout the county. They work in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to promote and develop the game of tennis in our area, however, they are a separate entity. This means that many of their initiatives, including competitions and county training, are run entirely by them.

Their aim is to support and safeguard tennis from the grass roots/recreational level to development and performance/elite standards. They work closely with tennis providers, venues, coaches, players, parents, and any person who is involved in the game to increase participation, improve facilities and raise playing standards across the county.

Berkshire Tennis has been working closely with the SportsPark for a number of years, which has been a fantastic partnership, seeing the courts and facilities playing host to a multitude of community and coach education activity. Berkshire Tennis support three main activities at the University of Reading:

1. County training for girls’ development and transitional squads for 11yrs + on a monthly basis

2. Sport in Mind free weekly sessions for participants using tennis as a means of mental wellbeing

3. Wheelchair tennis weekly coached sessions on a Sunday in partnership with the coaching team from GDTennis

They also organise tennis coach courses and forums at the SportsPark throughout the year, which are run by their coach development provider, Growing the Game.
